Iquitos

Iquitos, the capital of the department of Loreto, located in the heart of the Amazon, had its greatest heyday in the rubber trade in 1880. It has iconic mansions that remind us of that time of greatness. Extensive luxury cruises on the Amazon River depart from Iquitos, allowing for total immersion in the virgin jungle. Access to the city is only by air or river.
