Arequipa y Colca

Day 01: Lima / Arequipa

In the morning, transfer to the airport to take the flight to the city of Arequipa. Arrival, welcome and transfer to the hotel.

Free lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Historical Center of Arequipa (UNESCO – World Heritage Site). Visit the viewpoints of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara.

Walk through the traditional neighbourhood of San Lazaro, and view the exceptional facade of the Casa Tristan del Pozo. Continuation to the Plaza de Armas (Main Square) and panoramic view of the Cathedral. The tour ends with a visit to the cloisters and the polychrome dome of the Church of the Society of Jesus.

Afterwards, visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina, a mestizo architectural jewel of the city of Arequipa.

The Monastery, belonging to the Order of Santa Catalina de Siena, occupies an area of 20 thousand square meters and is divided into four typical colonial neighbourhoods of picturesque narrow streets and colourful gardens that have earned it the title of city within the City.

Day 02: Arequipa / Colca

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, departure to the Colca Canyon , considered one of the deepest in the world.  The route crosses the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca where you can see vicuñas in their natural habitat.

Stop at the Mirador de Los Volcanes in Patapampa, the highest point of the route (4,910 m.a.s.l.) from where you can see the mountain range and the volcanoes of the area.

Arrival at Chivay (3,638 m.a.s.l.), capital of the province of Caylloma. Transfer and check-in the hotel.

Free lunch.

Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the facilities and activities included in the hotels.

Free dinner.

Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 03: Colca / Arequipa

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early in the morning departure to the Cruz del Condor, a viewpoint from where you can contemplate the beauty and depth of the canyon, as well as the majestic flight of the condors if weather conditions permit.

Then visit Pinchollo, Achoma, Maca and Yanque, typical villages of the Colca where we will observe typical dances, colourful traditional costumes of the region, colonial mestizo architecture, and terraces dating from the Inca period.

Departure to Chivay and free time for lunch.

Return to Arequipa. Arrival and installation at the hotel.

Free dinner.

Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 04: Arequipa / Lima

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima.
