Classic Peru
Peru Classic circuit allows you to know the most outstanding destinations in the southern Andes of Peru: Lima, the current capital of Peru with its historic city and museums; the beautiful white city of Arequipa and its convent of Santa Catalina; Puno and the majestic Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world; and finally Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire. This itinerary allows you to be transported back in time with the ancient Inca vestiges, admire the beautiful high Andean landscapes, and enjoy the colonial architecture and the cosmopolitan modernity of Lima.

In the morning, visit the Historic Center of Lima (UNESCO – World Cultural Heritage). A tour of the Plaza de Armas (main square) and its main attractions is followed by a visit to the Convent of Santo Domingo, built in the sixteenth century.
Continuation to the modern parts of the city: the district of San Isidro, Lima’s financial center, and Miraflores, a tourist district overlooking the sea.

In the afternoon, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Arequipa.

In the morning, visit the Historic Center of Arequipa (UNESCO – World Heritage Site). Visit the viewpoints of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara. Walk through the traditional neighborhood of San Lazaro, the Plaza de Armas (main square), a panoramic view of the Cathedral, and the cloisters of the Church of the Company of Jesus.

Finally, visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina, a mestizo architectural jewel in the city of Arequipa. The Monastery belongs to the Order of Santa Catalina de Siena, occupies an area of 20 thousand square meters, and is divided into four typical colonial neighborhoods of picturesque narrow streets and colorful gardens that have earned it the title of City within the City.

In the morning, departure in a tourist vehicle to Puno, located in the Peruvian Altiplano at an altitude of 4,800 m.
A landscape tour bordering the snowy Chachani to Pampa Cañahuas, where the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca is located, the habitat of South American camelids and vicuñas.
The route is continued; during the journey, you will be able to appreciate the beautiful high Andean landscape, with its fauna and flora, and rock formations that resemble a forest of stones. view of the towns of Pillones, Imata, and Crucero Alto (highest point: 4,538 masl), then a panoramic view of the Lagunillas lagoon, and the towns of Santa Lucia, Cabanillas, and Juliaca, until arriving at the city of Puno.

Excursion to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, located at 3,812 m above sea level.
Transfer to the pier in Puno and departure by boat to the island of Taquile (2h30 of navigation), (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Arrival around noon. Opportunity to appreciate the textile and colorful art of the community. Walking on a white sand beach.
Continuation of the navigation towards the peninsula of Capachica and visit of the community of Santa María to learn about Pachamanca, an ancestral cooking technique. Then, visit the Bio Interpretation Center “Balsero del Titicaca”.
Typical Pachamanca lunch with the locals.
Finally, visit the floating islands of the Uros, artificially built with reeds, an opportunity to learn about the way of life of this community.
Return to Puno at the end of the afternoon.

In the morning, transfer to Cusco in a tourist vehicle.
Stop at the Lithic Museum of Pucara, where you can find ceramics and sculptures representing zoomorphic figures (1600 BC–400 AD).
Continuation and stop for photos at the pass of La Raya, the highest point of the route at 4335 meters above sea level, where the famous snow-capped mountain Chimboya is located.
Buffet lunch at a local restaurant.
Visit the archaeological complex of Raqchi, known as the temple to the God Wiracocha, where you can see stone and adobe buildings, as well as barns (1450 AD and 1532 AD).
Stop at the Chapel of Andahuaylillas, a church dating from the seventeenth century, known as the Sistine of the Andes due to the beauty of its murals, gold leaf work, and paintings by the Cusco School.
Arrive at the city of Cusco, and transfer to the hotel.

Departure to the Sacred Valley and visit of Maras and its salt mines, composed of approximately more than 3,000 basins each arranged in a terrace and layers of salt are naturally present in the rock.
Continuation with the visit of the enigmatic terraces of Moray concentric constructions similar to a Greek amphitheater; the terraces were used for agricultural experiments. Appreciating the terraces in the distance shows Moray as one of the most dazzling Inca works.
Lunch in a local restaurant
Finally, visit the Archaeological Park of Ollantaytambo, a marvelous Inca archaeological complex that served agricultural, religious and military functions.

Transfer from the hotel to Ollanta station to board the train to Aguas Calientes station.
Arrive at Aguas Calientes and ascend by non-private bus (25-30 min) to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu (UNESCO – World Cultural and Natural Heritage).
A visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu with a private guide is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. During the walk, you will make several stops where you will appreciate the perfect harmony between the natural environment and the majestic Inca construction.
After the visit, descend by non-private bus (25–30 min) to the town of Aguas Calientes.

At the appropriate time, transfer to the train station for a departure to Poroy Station (3h15 approx.). Arrival and transfer to the city of Cusco (approx. 20 min.).

In the morning, tour the Historic Center of Cusco (UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage). Visit the Cathedral in Gothic-Renaissance style (XVI century), which has a large collection of religious artworks; walk through the typical streets of the city and visit the Koricancha, an Inca temple on which was built the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Finally, visit some of the surrounding archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay.

Visit to the Sapantiana aqueduct located in the district of San Cristóbal. It is the largest colonial hydraulic work in Peru, built on the P’ujru river whose construction was promoted between the 17th and 18th centuries by the Society of Jesus and the Qosqo or Cusco council.

Visit the Larco Museum, which is located in a beautiful colonial mansion in Lima surrounded by gardens; here you can appreciate a careful collection of ceramics, textiles, and goldsmith pieces from the most representative cultures of Peru. The tour ends with a visit to one of the most complete collections of pre-Columbian erotic art.
